For those of you that don't know, Dave and I are Young Life leaders to a GREAT group of high school juniors. They are really special people in our lives, and we were their leaders last year through all of sophomore year, we hang out multiple times during the week and sometimes we even get the chance to talk to them about their lives and being a Christian. When we were struggling to get pregnant my girls where there, they prayed with me, and saw my tears, they encouraged me, and celebrated with me when we did get pregnant. They have been witness to our marriage, our friendships, and our Christian walk.
Needless to say we care a lot about them, and we always knew they cared about us...and that's why they threw us a surprise baby shower this past Wednesday! We have campaigners (which is when we meet as a small group) at our house every Wed night, the guys and girls come over for pizza, and then we break the sexes up and do our own little devotional. But this Wednesday they all showed up with gifts, and Cecilie brought cake and ice cream. Dave's boys brought diapers, and the girls brought clothes for Fay.
It was totally a surprise and we were very impressed that 20 HS kids were able to keep it a secret. The clothes were precious, and everyone had a great time. God is doing really special things with this group of kids, and in our lives. We are blessed to know them and get the chance to talk to them about Jesus. It is through young life that I found my salvation, and it is through young life that Dave and I have found a whole new reason for sharing the gospel.
